Glentoran fans caught a glimpse of the first of two versions of this season’s Kukri away shirt as Scott Young’s side took to the field in the away leg of the Second Round Europa League tie against FC Vorskla in the Ukraine on Thursday 21st of July 2011. With sponsorship discussions still ongoing the shirt appeared sponsorless, but was immediately heralded as a success by the Glentoran faithful. Using the club’s traditional colours and paying a nodding homage to the wonderful 77 away Juventus shirt, the design remained modern and eye catching. The Glens lost 3-0 in the Ukraine thus exiting the Europa League. Come the start of September and with a deal now in place for a continuation of the sponsorship deal with fonaCAB, Glentoran wore this shirt for the first time away from home on the Carling Premiership against Portadown at Shamrock Park. The red and green middle stripe also appears on the reverse of the shirt below the number with a Kukri logo just below the collar line.
