Glentoran crowned JJB Premier League Champions for 2008-2009 on the last day of the season released the new "away" shirt option for the 2009/10 season on Thursday 28th May with the now traditional midnight launch. The shirt marks a return to a black away option with a few Umbro trademark stylised additions. The shirt carries an "old school" style Glentoran badge complete with ornate scroll work in a watermark underneath the main club crest. This badging also carries the legend "Pride of the East" in a reference to the geographic location of the club in the East end of the city. The motto also appears on the back of the shirt complete with a cockerel, the centrepiece of the club's badge. This is the first time that badging has appeared on the reverse of the Glentoran jersey. Red collar and green sleeve flashes make sure that all the club colours are incorporated in the design. Credit again goes to the club sponsor whose agreement to alter their corporate colour scheme to red and white which in turn adds to the whole look of another quality Umbro production. It is believed that the shirt will be used as an away option with the 2008/09 home shirt remaining in place for another season and the green 08/09 away shirt being used on a number of occasions as third strip. The shirt made it's debut in a pre season friendly against Leeds Utd at the Oval on 18th July 2009. Worn with black shorts and black socks with a red and white trim.
